A brief recap of yesterdays runner ups included Bruce Campbell, Charlie Cox, Daniel Craig, Daniel Radcliff and Patric Stewart. Today we pick up with the number four totally non-gay hot guy, I don’t know if these guys are gay or not but the this list they are on is not gay, not that there is anything wrong with that. Let the totally non-gay fun begin.
#4: Kevin “Can You Digg It” Rose
When talking about guys you sometimes hear the phrase “man’s man, well Kevin Rose is the “nerd’s nerd”. While appearing on “The Screen Savers” (later renamed “Attack of the Show”) Kevin presented “Dark Tips” to the young would be hackers out there (read script kiddies). While appearing on TV he was also working on other projects behind the scenes. Kevin launched the Digg.com and created the social news site. Though Digg doesn’t per say write or report news, you can find links to the top news stories as voted on by the users. Digg like other web 2.0 sites have eschewed traditional web wisdom and encourages you to leave their site. Old school Internet wisdom says you need to keep users on your site to make money. Digg is proof to the contrary.
After Kevin Rose left his television job he started his second highly experimental project. He started Revision3, one of the early IPTV stations. What is IPTV, it is just that a web based television station. If you look at YouTube.com you find a very successful site that is a mixture of short form new content and recycled content from other sources. Revision3 creates new long form content. The flagship show, Diggnation, also features Rose discussing the weeks top stories from the social news site Digg previously mentioned.
Even though Rose is one of the most influential young people on the new social internet, he isn’t with out charm and style. Check him out on diggnation and see what I mean.
